When restoring an older car determining the condition of the engine can be difficult. One of the easiest test is a compression test. This will give you an idea of the condition of the valves, rings, and head gaskets. I use it when instaling a new distributor alone and have to find TDC. I siply put the tester in the #1 hole and crank the engine slowly until the preasure peaks..........This unit comes with a 2 1/2" dia. guage that reads 0-300 lbs. It also comes with adapters for M14 X 1.25 & M18 X 1.5 all in a nice blow moulded case
