The type of repair will determine if a bent or a flat file is needed, and whether a fine or coarse cut file tooth pattern would be more effective.

Body - Body File

Blended Round Corners:

The rounded radius blended edge are preferred by most file finishers today as they require less filing skills and have less tendency to cause scratches in the body finishing prior to panting.

Use Simonds finer cut body files for small pimples or other slightly high removal and for small areas where a bump-up procedure has been performed...... Use Simonds coarse cut body files for repairs large enough to require a higher rate of metal removal.......

5241 Coarse Cut-Single Cut-Bent 12T-30° 15/16" Full Blended Round Convex Side Only Aluminum, Solder & Steel.

Now for our opinion on this tool.....Many times when doing metalshaping, tinsmithing and body work we have to work on convex shapes where a flat file will not work....This is the file to use to get that surface perfect......I have also used this file as a shrinking slapper in those convex areas where a standard shrinking/slapper file did notwork...The length of the blade on this file is 14" so you can make nice smooth cuts......If you were to look in the tool box of body men and tinsmiths from days past you would find this file in their box.....One note, the file teeth on this file are not as agressive as a vixen file, the teeth are a coarse single cut for more finesse work.....
